Another awesome weekend - GO A'S!

Posted on Monday, July 26th, 2010

I have no idea what I did on Friday. I think I was working until late Friday night, and I know I ran 2 more miles in my Vibram's. Saturday, Quang and I went to Marlo's housewarming party which was great food, great beer, and great company. I really like the layout of Marlo's new house, and I'm very impressed that he actually owns it. It's a three-story condo in what looks like a new San Jose development. It of course made me think of when I can one day own my own place, or if that's even in the cards for me. I have a feeling it is, though I used to not mind the idea of renting for the rest of my life-- when I imagined myself traveling all the time. Now, the thought of a place to call home, even a family, totally trumps the "dream" of traveling. Weird how the picture of my future continues to change over time. Anyway, enough musing. We saw Inception after the party, and that movie was awesome. Especially buzzed on beer. It deserves another viewing, even though I think I understood pretty much everything. I won't talk about it, so no spoilers. But in my opinion, it met the hype. This morning, we drove up to Burlingame to meet with my best friend that I've known from elementary school for brunch. It was fun to catch up, and I really miss living in the same city with him. He lives in New York, but was visiting the area for just the weekend. The first time I went to New York was March of last year when I visited him, and I had the time of my life. Wen and Josh, if you're reading this, I miss you! Definitely need to make the trip out there again. Then, Quang and I hit the Oakland Coliseum to watch his favorite team, the White Sox, get pulverized by my favorite team (if I had to pick -- don't really watch baseball too much but I might start...), the Oakland A's! I even bought a cap. I shouldn't really be too mean about the win because he really loves the White Sox, but... ha ha ha! Then, it was time to hit the mall. Quang wanted new basketball shoes, and it was time to do my August shopping. Yes, a bit early, but I couldn't stop myself!! I am proud that I haven't allowed myself to shop (well... except for a couple bathing suits) for all of July. So I did it. And I spent under my budget for the month. The theme was just clothing. No more shopping until around August 25th. And the theme there is... PURSES!! I can't wait. Then gym. I am being SO good with my workouts, and I must say Quang is looking pretty nice too. I used to be afraid that, with the traveling and the constant interruption, I would never develop a routine and that maybe, just maybe, the long distance was not very good for my running resolutions. I never blamed Quang, and this summer is teaching me that he's actually a wonderful workout and dieting partner, and this puts me at ease. Photoshoot to come of clothing. I'll save that for the next post. And just so I cover the entire spectrum from fashion freak to geek, post to come of a review of my new Thinkpad x200, which I LOVE. Now to wipe the hard drive clean and install Win7 to replace this crummy Vista. Yes, I gave it a chance, and no, I still hate Vista. [gallery]
