Well, it's my annual blog post!

Today, friends of ours gave birth to their first baby. It made me reflect on our family as we approach the one year mark since the birth of our son (weird, "our son"), and how crazy yet not-that-crazy it's been. We've been quick to settle into our new routine I think, and I'm starting to approach a mindset where it's hard to imagine how my life was before Miles. Weird, again.

Not to say I'm not doing the same things-- Quang and I take turns going out with friends, I'm still working harder than I probably should and worrying at about the same...

Where is the year going? It's already mid-February and it feels like just last weekend I was craving a champagne to ring in the new year. Or to ring in my 30th. Despite the sobriety, I already have a lot to be thankful for and feeling so loved with friends, family, good food, a beautiful city, and a new little one to share this love.

Two and a half more months and he'll be here, if all goes well.

I haven't done very much with the art I was hoping to do -- a piece per month was my new year's resolution. I'll post a scan of what I drew in January.

I also had another...

It's been awhile since I've posted a life update, so here goes. After getting married in February to Q, we are happily situated in our two-bedroom home in San Francisco awaiting the arrival of our son, due in May. We are both so thrilled and of course also nervous. Who can predict what can go wrong? At the same time, we're confident that whatever comes to pass, we can handle it together.

I haven't really gathered my thoughts on how I'm feeling, or rather, how being pregnant feels to me. I feel mostly the same besides the physical limitations (can't bend down too much, back hurts,...

This holiday season almost every weekend consists of a flight, so I'm enjoying the last two weekends we have here in San Francisco. On Saturday, we got to see some hand-made planes flop into the water in Red Bull's "Flugtag" event at AT&T Park. It was neat to be able to just walk in and hang out in the outfield. Afterwards, we went to a cooking class in a nice apartment in SOMA, where we drank lots of wine and ate the best pear tart we'd ever had.

Today, we went to a couple bars during the day and then stuffed ourselves at Tony Napoletano in North Beach ... really stuffed...

how stressful its been lately. weve just moved from my 1 bedroom to our 2 bedroom down the hall. its strange catching myself saying we instead of I, our instead of my. not that were married or anything, it just seems like more and more things, days, aspects of our lives, are shared, and its starting to reflect in the way I even communicate with others.

i dont mind, though. its different, from what Im used to anyway, getting accustomed to my first normal-distance relationship in oh, I dont know, 5-6 years. Ive had roommates, but its not the same.

the apartment itself is...

Today marks day 1 of having my little sister as a roommate for the summer, and the last day of my bachelorette days in the city. Quang is here too, so we have a bit of a full house, at least for an apartment this size. Quang will be moving in late June, which is approaching quickly, and not quickly enough.

But while I do like having the company, I'm looking back on this almost-year of being alone, and I'm wondering if I prefer it that way, or if I'm looking forward to a summer with Liz, and a life with Quang. Not necessarily assessing the people specifically, just the concept of...
