drawing class and productivity

Took my first drawing class today at the Campbell Community Rec center. I was... 20 minutes late, but hey, it's the first class! It felt really good to draw again. After a hard day at the cafe, where I was super productive might I add, it was nice to focus on something mindless yet stimulating and fulfilling at the same time - a conundrum that I don't think I'll find many other places. I've taken art courses before, so the basics of shading, light, and shapes left a little challenge to be desired, but I took my work home and sprayed it anyway-- the images below aren't anything to brag about. I didn't really take the class to learn how to draw anyhow. I took it so I could motivate myself to get back into drawing - something I've dabbled in and been interested in since I was 8 years old. It's always been in the margin, something I know I have a smidgen of talent for but have never had the time to really devote to. With my sketchbook, I don't care if I fill it with charcoal shapes for pages - at least I'm drawing. Having a weekly guided session like this is going to do me good, I think. I'll post what I do every week. I'm hoping to see some kind of improvement. We'll see. :) class=alignnone class=alignnone
