Book Buddy Audio wanted an online version of their paper catalog that makes it easy for teachers and school staff purchase Book Buddy Sets and Collections for the classroom. They not only wanted to display their products, but facilitate an online store where users could add items to their cart and place an order. A key component was for Book Buddy Audio to manually process the orders and be able to call the customer to complete the sale over the phone.
To accommodate the structure of the Book Buddy Products (each Collection was made up of multiple Sets, each Set was made up of multiple Titles and a GoReader Device, and in the future, they may want to make Titles and GoReader Devices available for individual purchase for refill), I had to configure the Products and categorization in a certain way so that the database and the configuration was flexible and scalable. Node references and Views allowed me to do this. I also had to train a data entry assistant to input all data, and make the interface easy enough for this person to efficiently enter all the meta data associated with each product. I build the fields so that not only could the data entry assistant easily enter the data, but I also made sure that they could accommodate all the filters and sorts that Book Buddy wanted by asking them ahead of time.
A few other things I added was the ability to incorporate Discount Coupons, which can apply to specific products and can expire after a time, as well as the ability to add multiple images and have the thumbnails display below one main image.
Finally, I themed the site to match the look of their main site.
